Our opportunities give young artists the chance to grow their skills, gain paid experience, and build connections within the arts industry.

We’re looking for up to 4 early-career artists aged 18-25 to become LYT Associate Artists for an 8-month period, from January 2027 to August 2027.

Whether you’re developing a new idea, rehearsing a piece of work, writing, or building your creative practice, this self-led opportunity gives you the freedom to focus on what you want to develop, in the way that feels right for you.
There’s no set programme and no expectation to create a finished piece. The Associate Artist offer is about giving early-career artists a creative home to develop their craft.
As an Associate Artist, you’ll have access to:
- Free rehearsal studio, desk and meeting space
- Free use of LYT’s technical equipment, costumes, props and creative resources
- Mentoring and advice from LYT’s team, including dramaturgy, producing and technical support
- Promotional support through LYT’s social media and networks
- Opportunities to connect with artists and organisations in LYT’s network
This opportunity is for early-career artists aged 18-25 who:
- Work in theatre, including writing, directing, design, movement, producing or performance
- Want to develop an idea, build their practice or shape work for an audience
- Would benefit from space, resources and support

Kickstart your creative career with LYT’s Facilitator Training Programme.
Over 12 days, you’ll gain practical facilitation skills, build confidence, and get hands-on experience working with young people in a range of community and theatre settings.

This programme is designed for young adults aged 18-25 who want to develop their creative and leadership potential. Participants will receive free training, an accredited AQA facilitation qualification, and mentoring to support career progression.
After completing the programme, you’ll be paid at the London Living Wage to deliver workshops in local schools, with further opportunities to develop your skills through paid placements on LYT projects. Trainee facilitators also join our freelancer pool, giving access to ongoing paid opportunities and a pathway into the creative industries.
Elligibility:
To apply, you must be aged 18-25 and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Living in or local to the borough of Lewisham
- Not currently in education, employment, or training.
- From under represented groups in the arts (e.g. working class, global majority, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+)
- Receiving Universal credit (UC) and Job seekers allowance (JSA)
